The Canadian Disability Studies Association-Association canadienne des études sur le handicap (CDSA-ACÉH) invites you to our 17th annual conference taking place from May 30th – June 1st at Western University in London, Ontario. Disability Studies is an interdisciplinary field that distinguishes embodied experiences with impairment from the disabling effects of unaccommodating, marginalizing and oppressive societal structures and cultural practices. Disability Studies explores a wide range of disability-related topics, engaging creatively with diverse knowledges to imagine possibilities and enact change towards a more just and inclusive world. Our conference will feature national and international keynote presentations, as well as a French language stream. Sessions including panels, workshops, and art will focus on the Congress 2020 theme of “Bridging Divides: Confronting Colonialism and Anti-Black Racism”. This theme challenges us to confront ways in which settler colonialism and white supremacy dehumanize Indigenous peoples and persons of colour in Canada, delegitimize their knowledges, and uphold violent dislocations and erasures from histories and land. Work presented will probe historical “divides” between Disability Studies, activism and environmental justice; decolonial and anti-racist work; health and medical sciences; and non-academic communities. CDSA-ACÉH is committed to accessibility and inclusion. Conference facilities will be wheelchair accessible and plenary events will be supported by live captioning and ASL interpretation. Attendees may share accommodation requests when registering or by contacting organizers at
